CELEBRITY OF THE DAY: CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE..


Our celebrity of the day is a remarkable, intelligent and gorgeous novelist, short story and non fiction writer and also a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient. Her name is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, she was born the fifth child out of six children into an Igbo family in Enugu state, Nigeria. Her father, James Nwoye Adichie was a professor of statistics in the University of Nsukka and her mother Grace Ifeoma Adochie was the first female registrar of the University. 

At the age of 19, she left Nigeria to the United States for her studies and after studying at Drexel University in Philadelphia, she made a transfer to Easter Connecticut State University in order to be able to live closer to her sister. Ngozi Adichie had her first novel published in the year 2003 and received a literary award for her first book. Her second book won the 2007 Orange Prize for Fiction. She is indeed a success in the literary world and one of Africa's brightest of minds.
