How to Prepare Your very Tasteful Yogurt Icecream?
Yogurt is a nutritional food produced when milk is left to ferment by a bacteria called 'Yogurt cultures'. Fermentation of lactose by these bacteria produces what is known as 'lactic acid', this acts on the milk protein to give yogurt its thickness. Below are some of the steps you could use to prepare that delicious yogurt ice cream you ever wanted to prepare but before that, lets quickly take a closer look at some of the ingredients to get you started.
Ingredients for Preparing Yogurt.
Milk, Nonfat, Lowfat or whole (4 cups), Plain yogurt with active cultures (2 tablespoons).
Now lets take a look at the steps to preparing this wonderful treat.
Step 1: Place two heat proof glass pint jars in a large pot and cover them with water.
Step 2: Apply medium heat to the pot and allow it to boil.
Step 3: Reduce the heat and allow to simmer, leaving the jars in the water to sterilize them while you go ahead to prepare the milk.
Step 4: Allow the milk just below to boil for about 180 to 1900F and put in a medium sized saucepan.
Step 5: Remove from heat and cool to about 1100F.
Step 6: Whisk the yogurt into the scalded milk.
Step 7: Remove the sterilized jars from the simmering water and set them on a countertop.
Step 8: Pour the scalded milk into the jars and seal the jars with tight fitting lids.
Step 9: Set the jars in a warm, protected place for about 6 to 8 hours to allow milk culture and thicken. This can be done in several ways.
Step 10: Allow the yogurt to thicken after which you can refrigerate and store for up to two weeks.
